Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2025. Decimal to Hours ("we," "us," or "our") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This policy outlines our data handling practices across all web calculators and services.

Core Privacy Principle: All time calculations, timesheet conversions, and clock-in entries are computed strictly within your web browser. Your confidential wage, employee, and client data never leaves your computer.

1. Zero Processing of Timesheet Data

When you enter values into our calculators (e.g., hours, minutes, seconds, decimal numbers, billing rates, clock-in and clock-out stamps, or upload CSV files to the Bulk Converter):

  • No Server Transmission: All conversions are executed locally via JavaScript executing in your client browser runtime. No calculation payloads are transmitted to our servers or third parties.
  • No Data Retention: We do not log, retain, or store individual calculations or batch timesheet files on any database.
  • No Financial Profiling: We have no visibility into the wages, billing rates, or client billings calculated using our instruments.

2. Web Analytics & Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4 via gtag.js) to help us understand aggregate site traffic and improve our tools:

  • Aggregate Metrics: Google Analytics collects anonymous, aggregate usage data such as pages visited, general browser and device types, referring sources, and session duration.
  • Complete Isolation from Calculator Data: Site analytics are strictly separated from our calculators. Your hours, pay rates, timesheet timestamps, and bulk CSV contents are never pushed to the dataLayer or transmitted to Google Analytics. All math remains 100% client-side in your browser.
  • Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics may place first-party cookies on your browser to measure aggregate traffic patterns and distinguish browsing sessions. For more information on how Google collects and processes measurement data, please review the Google Privacy Policy.

3. Browser Storage & Cookies

We deliberately minimize local browser storage:

  • Theme Preference: We utilize browser localStorage solely to persist your chosen visual theme ('theme': 'dark' or 'theme': 'light'). No personal identifiers or calculation histories are stored.
  • Analytics Cookies: As detailed above, Google Analytics 4 may set first-party measurement cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral trackers, or advertising pixels.

4. Server Logs & Technical Diagnostics

Like virtually all web hosts, our infrastructure automatically records standard, non-personally-identifiable HTTP request logs. These records include:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address (for DDoS mitigation and geographic traffic balancing)
  • Browser type, language settings, and operating system
  • Referring URL and requested page paths
  • Timestamp of the request

These logs are reviewed strictly for server reliability, security protection, and technical error diagnosis, and are automatically purged on a rolling basis.

5. Data Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

Under regulations including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), individuals have rights regarding their personal information. Because Decimal to Hours does not collect names, emails, employee identifiers, or user accounts for calculator usage, we do not hold personal data files on site visitors.

If you correspond with us via email, your correspondence is held confidential and used exclusively to resolve your inquiry. You may request deletion of past email communications at any time by contacting privacy@decimaltohours.com.

6. External Links

Our guides may link to official government repositories (such as the US Department of Labor eCFR rules at ecfr.gov) or professional organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party domains.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect technological or regulatory updates. Any revisions will be published on this URL with an updated effective date.
